iMarketing in a Tech Savvy World
Whether first-time Home Buyer of Move-Up Buyer, Generation Y and younger people are more internet savvy than ever before. They let their fingers do the walking first – and I don’t mean with the Yellow Pages!! They collect information, educate themselves and research, research, research before they even contact a Real Estate Agent. And it’s not just the younger generation. The average Facebook user is now over 35. Grandparents are Skyping their families. People are watching more and more TV content online. And users of all ages are finding information and entertainment on YouTube. Therefore it is more crucial than ever in this new world to make sure your website ranks in any Search Engine search. Users must first and foremost be able to find your website. And from there, it is my job to have the content to keep them there and move them off the first page, deeper into the website. It is important to supply useful information, help educate them, guide them through the process of choosing an Agent and selecting a purchase area and finally, pinpointing potential homes for purchase. This is why I have made informational videos so crucial to my new website. I want users to learn the ins and outs of all the Real Estate topics from choosing a Real Estate Agent to the home buying and selling process. I want them to see virtual tours of a home model they are considering. I want them to be familiar with the community and the neighbourhood. And most of all, I want them to feel they know me and my Team – that they have a sense of our honesty, integrity, work ethic, knowledge-base, sense of fun and adventure, and – most importantly – the love we have for our job.
Social Media has become a strong component of iMarketing. YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Blogging create multiple brand impressions on Clients and potential Clients. They are a conduit for information and keep me – as the brand – top of mind. It is important to market to all devices – Tablets, iPads, Cell Phones. Internet is now an on-the-go portable format. QR codes and Mobile Home Marketing is now more popular than ever. And in terms of showcasing homes, great photos, slideshows and often virtual tours are a must-have element.
As for print ads, Clients must understand that they are on the decline. They no longer drive sales but rather tweak some interest in home listings and Open Houses while directing people to websites where more in depth information can be found. As an Agent, I am finding the Return on Investment of print is becoming less and less. Smaller community papers such as the Oakville Beaver however still command a certain discerning audience, but major papers are no longer important. So, while you’ll still see my ads in the Beaver, I’ll be concentrating the majority of my resources online. I hope everyone makes the shift with me!!
